A few days ago I was advised by K-studio via my Facebook profile page Future Concept Retail, to look at a project of a new restaurant in Milan. I am very happy to thank them for letting me know about it and it also was a confirmation about how useful the net can be when used as a way to get to know about new projects. Restaurant 28 posti (28Seats Reastaurant) surely is a project that catches your attention. The main features of this project are renewal and renovation: starting from the very physical space as it used to be a karaoke bar in the Navigli area of Milan, then I have to mention the cooperation with Bollate lab the new lab of the convicts of Istituto Penitenziario di Bollate which in a very short time has created tables, the bar at the entrance, all the doors and the furniture you can find within the restaurant. And in the kitchen Chef Caterina Malerba makes sure the menu is based on bio and local produce. The whole idea is interesting not just because it is based both on social and environmental ideas of renewal and renovation as it is indeed, but also because it is based on productive ethical choices. All the furniture, made with low price and recycled wood, is sold via a catalogue that can be found at the restaurant. The plan of the restaurant and the choices of all the finishing touches are very simple: well defined spaces which focus on the very heart of the activity, obviously the kitchen, which can be seen from the street. All the colours are soft and connected to the idea of “transparency” and the concept of social semplicity.
